Right On Air Conditioning And Heating completed a furnace and air-conditioning system replacement on Kendall Road in Kendall Park, NJ. The customer’s existing system was very old and operating on the outdated R-22 refrigerant, so we replaced the aging equipment and brought several components up to current code during the installation.

We installed an 80% single stage RUUD furnace matched with a 14 SEER air-conditioning system. The installation was an overhead attic system, with the new furnace and evaporator coil supported on uni-strut for secure, code-compliant mounting.

Because the evaporator coil sits in the attic, we added a new emergency drain pan beneath it. That pan is paired with a Condensate Cop float safety switch so the system will shut down if the main condensate line backs up. We also installed  a SS2 float softie on secondary side port of evaporator coil.. A new condensate line was run with a clean-out trap to allow safe, maintainable drainage.

We also replaced the venting. The existing vent had been tied to a single wall smoke pipe, which is not allowed in attics because it can condense. To meet code and improve safety, we ran a brand new B-vent  with new cap and color, that is appropriate for the installed equipment and attic location.

As part of the electrical work, we installed a new fuse disconnect and a cable whip to provide a proper service connection to the new furnace and air conditioner. We also installed a new leader pipe/downspout to cover the line foot on the side of the home, keeping exterior penetrations tidy and routed correctly.

For homeowner convenience, the system includes an interior filter grille that makes filter changes simple. The homeowner can pull the grill down, remove the old filter, insert a new one, and close the door without accessing the attic equipment.

The installation also included a Honeywell P200 programmable thermostat to give the homeowner basic control and scheduling for the new heating and cooling system.
