Right On Air Conditioning And Heating completed a professional installation of a new furnace and air conditioning system on Barge Lane in Somerset NJ. Our team removed the customer’s original 25 year-old system and supplied and installed a RUUD 80% single stage furnace paired with a 14 SEER2 air conditioning system for the second floor. The equipment location was in the attic, which required careful placement and proper safety measures.

As part of the installation we installed a new secondary emergency pan underneath the attic unit. That pan includes a condensate cop float safety switch. If the pan ever begins to overflow, this float safety switch will shut the system down to prevent water damage to the ceiling below.

We also installed an EZ-Trap float safety switch on the primary condensate train for the air-conditioning. If the condensate drain backs up, a sensor inside that trap will deactivate the air-conditioning so it stops producing water and prevents an overflow. Having two float safety switches on the system provides excellent protection, because if one safety switch fails the other will still prevent damage to the second floor ceiling.

To improve indoor air quality and simplify maintenance, we installed a Honeywell 16 x 25 x 4 media air cleaner directly underneath the furnace. This media filter cleans the air well and allows longer intervals between changes. It is easy to access, simply open the door, slide the filter out, slide a new filter in, and you are done.

All gas, electric, and duct connections were brought up to code. We sealed all ductwork with mastic tape to reduce leaks and ensure the new system moves air effectively. For the outdoor condenser we set a new 3 inch preformed pad and installed a new electrical fuse, disconnect, and cable whip with properly sized fuses for safe operation.

After startup and testing we had the customer check airflow in a problem room at the end of the house. The customer reported that airflow and air delivery are much better than with the old system. That improvement will be partially because the system is new, and mainly because the new equipment includes an X 13 high torque ECM motor that delivers better airflow and a higher level of comfort throughout the home.
